CFS has repaired many cracked basement walls, bowing basement walls, and retaining walls. Basement walls and retaining walls often fail due to poor drainage and an increase in hydrostatic pressure. When water cannot properly flow in its natural direction, the collection of water, within the retained soils begin to increase pressure and exert loads higher than intended for the constructed walls. Once the walls begin to lean or bow they lose much of their structural integrity. Common signs of this problem are cracks within the surface of the walls (often running horizontally), bowing of the walls, and / or leaning walls.
Solutions:
Carbon Fiber Reinforcement
Carbon fiber reinforcement straps are a great solution for basement wall and retaining wall repairs. There are numerous advantages of using carbon fiber straps, below are a list of just a few:
- The material is easy to install, it can typically be done in one day and there is very little disturbance. In most situations, no excavation is would be required, as compared to other applications.
- Carbon fiber is corrosion-proof, and it virtually lasts forever.
- The material has a low-profile and because it lays flat on the surface, the repaired wall can be painted and it would not prevent or interfere with future installation of wall paneling, studs, or waterproofing.
- Carbon fiber is more rigid than steel, so wall movement is immediately arrested.

Helical Tieback Anchors
Carolina Foundation Solutions is also capable of installing helical tieback anchors to stabilize walls which are experiencing horizontal movement. The anchors are installed through the face of the wall back in to firm stable soils.
